Sarwat Najib is an entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, storyteller, and activist dedicated to empowering women and uplifting refugee and immigrant communities. She began her career in Kabul, Afghanistan, where she launched a fashion brand and vocational center in 2019, blending cultural heritage with contemporary design while creating employment for women. Her work emphasized hand embroidery, preserving tradition and amplifying women’s artistry.

After resettling in the United States, Sarwat rebuilt her life by founding Shamlla, a brand that bridges cultures and promotes sustainability through eco-friendly, biodegradable fabrics. She also mentors women models and collaborates with artists to amplify women’s voices through fashion.

As founder of the Focus Development Organization, Sarwat provides free training, mentorship, and entrepreneurship opportunities, equipping women with sewing, embroidery, and business skills to achieve independence. Through storytelling and advocacy, she shares her migration journey, inspiring resilience and inclusion while proving that empowered women can transform communities.
