Faisal Karimi is a media entrepreneur, journalism educator, and senior exiled journalist from Afghanistan. He is an alumnus of the prestigious John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University and the Alfred Friendly Press Partners Fellowship at the Missouri School of Journalism. Currently, Faisal serves as the founding director of Nowruz Media, a civic media organization dedicated to serving Afghan immigrants in the United States. Additionally, he is a journalism instructor at Ohlone College in California.
Karimi has an extensive background in media research, having worked at San Jose State University and Internews Europe. He also served as the Asia-Pacific Regional Coordinator for the Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD). Prior to the Taliban’s takeover, Faisal was an assistant professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at his alma mater, Herat University, in western Afghanistan.
